Het vertelkastje, ofwel de Kamishibai, kun je gebruiken om de mooiste verhalen te laten zien en te laten horen. Het is een andere manier van voorlezen, maar ontzettend bijzonder. Waar komt de het vandaan? Hoe gebruik je deze? Je leest hier alles over in mijn nieuwe blog.

De Kamishibai laat een verhaal leven

De Kamishibai komt uit Japan. Het is een Japanse manier van het vertellen van verhalen. Door de eeuwen heen heeft de Kamishibai verschillende namen gekregen. Wij kennen het onder andere ook onder de naam: Vertelkastje, of Verteltheater. Eigenlijk is het ook een klein theatertje waarin platen een scene laten zien uit een boek.

Een Kamishibai heeft aan de zijkant twee openingen waarin de grote platen precies passen. Je verschuift dus eigenlijk de platen terwijl je het verhaal vertelt. Je kunt je voorstellen dat de fantasie van de kinderen door deze manier van vertellen enorm geprikkeld wordt.

Het woord Kamishibai kun je opsplitsen in Kami (betekent papier) Shibai (betekent drama).

Het gebruik

Stel je voor: Je hebt een Kamishibai gekocht met mooie platen. Tijd om kinderen een mooi verhaal te gaan vertellen. Maar hoe gebruik je een Kamishibai?
Het mooie van dit verteltheatertje is dat er een gebruiksaanwijzing bij hoort, die luidt als volgt:

  • Zet de Kamishibai op een tafeltje zodat de kinderen de platen goed kunnen zien. Maar laat de luikjes van het theatertje nog wel dicht;
  • Laat de kinderen lekker comfortabel zitten op de grond;
  • Open het theatertje en de kinderen zien de eerste plaat;
  • Schuif de plaat opzij zo het theatertje uit. Op de achterkant van de eerste plaat staat de tekst van de plaat die voor de kinderen nu tevoorschijn is gekomen;
  • Let er wel op dat je niet achter het theatertje staat, maar er half voor/ naast. Je kijkt samen met de kinderen naar de platen;
  • Je kunt het verhaal in je eigen woorden vertellen, of je kunt de tekst lezen. Je bent een verteller in plaats van een voorlezer.
